How Do I Set Up My Keyboard Ergonomically?

by | Jun 16, 2022

Let’s talk about the height of your keyboard.

How do I set up my keyboard ergonomically?

What angle should your keyboard be at?

If you work at a desk job, you are using your keyboard for hours and hours on end. It’s incredibly important that the keyboard is in exactly the right position. The right position is a relaxed shoulder, your arm bent at a 90-degree angle with some sort of rest underneath the elbow. From there, the keyboard needs to hit right at that 90-degree angle level.

Is it better to have your keyboard up or down?

You may not think that having the keyboard up an inch or down an inch really makes that big of a difference, but what happens if it’s too high? You end up raising your shoulders, and for a moment, that’s not a problem, but if you do that for eight hours a day, you’re going to end up with shoulder and neck issues. So remember, completely relaxed at a 90-degree angle.

Tips to remember:

  • Your shoulders should be relaxed when typing.
  • Your arms should be at a 90-degree angle.
  • Have some sort of rest underneath your elbows.
  • Your keyboard needs to be at that 90- degree angle.
