Two Years In: Why We Started Atlas Chiropractic

by | Sep 17, 2026

Atlas Chiropractic turns two this month.

Two years is long enough to know whether a practice works, and short enough that I still remember standing in an empty office in Woodway, wondering whether Central Texas wanted what I came here to build.

You answered that, and thank you from the bottom of my heart. So this blog is different from what I usually write; this one is personal. No study to walk you through, no anatomy to translate. Just the reason this place exists, in case you have ever wondered who is on the other side of the table.

It started with my son

Long before I knew what Orthospinology was, my oldest son Taylor had one ear infection after another.

We did what everyone does. Another round of antibiotics, then another. He would clear up for a few weeks, then he would be back in the pediatrician’s office, and I would be back to feeling like we were managing something instead of answering it.

What finally worked was a gentle adjustment to his Atlas, the top bone in the neck.

I tell that story often, and never for effect. I tell it because it rearranged how I think about health. Something was interfering with how his body worked; nobody had looked for it, and once it was found and corrected, his body handled the rest. Every problem has a cause. His had one, and it was not actually in his ears.

Why Woodway

I earned my Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University in 2005 and spent nearly twenty years practicing in the Dallas area. That is where I learned this work, where I earned my Advanced Certification in Orthospinology, and where I built a career on the Atlas correction.

Then family pulled us back toward Central Texas.

What I found when I got here was a gap. People in Waco, Woodway, McGregor, and every small town around them were driving to Dallas or Houston for Upper Cervical care. Two- and three-hour round trips, sometimes weekly, at the exact point in their lives when they had the least energy to spare. A few made that drive for years. Most never made it at all, and went on living with headaches, vertigo, and neck pain that no one had found the cause of.

That gap is the whole practice. Atlas exists so the expertise you would otherwise travel hours to find sits fifteen minutes from your house, in an office where the person at the front desk knows your name.

What this practice is built around

Precision at Atlas Chiropractic is a precise measurement with a number attached to it.

Your Atlas is the top bone in your neck, the ring that your skull rests on. It has no cushion above it and none below it, so it can shift in ways the rest of your spine cannot, and a small shift at the top changes the way the rest of your spine functions.

Before any care decisions are made, you get the Blueprint Spinal Analysis: a hands-on exam to find tight muscles, spinal restrictions, and inflammation, an AI-analyzed 3-D postural evaluation, and comprehensive digital spinal X-ray analysis. Your images are measured in degrees and millimeters. Those numbers set the direction, angle, and depth of your correction, and that correction belongs only to you.

We never guess about your health. The measurements are why we don’t have to.

What two years have taught me

People wait far too long. Almost everyone who walks into Atlas has been carrying something for years and has been told some version of “learn to live with it” by someone they trusted. By the time they reach us, most have stopped expecting an answer. Watching that hope come back is the best part of this job.

And correction takes real time. Ligaments remodel slowly, which is why full correction runs eighteen to twenty-four months. Anything less than full correction is unstable and more likely to relapse. I say that plainly at your Report of Findings, because you deserve to make plans with the most realistic data and timeline in front of you.

What comes next

The goal has not moved since the day we opened. I want Atlas to be the place where Central Texas can always find a doctor ready to help, without the three-hour drive and without another prescription for a problem no one has looked for.

More of that is built than I expected at two years. Dr. Venard has joined me. The office has grown. And most of the people walking in now were referred by the people who walked in before them, which is the only honest measure of whether any of this is working.

If you are still looking for an answer

If you have been carrying something and no one has found the cause, our consultation is always complimentary. You tell us the history, we listen, and you leave with a straight answer.

Thank you for two years. You are the reason there will be many more.
